The Notary

From Snowpiercer Wiki

The Notary is a recurring character on TNT's Snowpiercer. She is portrayed by Ellie Harvie.

History[edit | edit source]

Background[edit | edit source]

The Notary seems to hold a unique power and status within the train, as any official action taken by a member of the Crew requires forms bearing Wilford Industries logo to be signed and notarized, as seen when Dr. Klimpt was ordered to release Nikki Genêt from The Drawers. Among various clerical duties, she is most certainly responsible for the Removal Request for Andre Layton, and Apprenticeship Offers. She is also in charge of writing down the minutes of any Tribunal occurring onboard.

She might work at the Archive, where all passengers files seem to be kept.

Throughout The Series[edit | edit source]

Season 1[edit | edit source]

In Prepare to Brace, she has seen taking notes and giving speeches when Pike, Z-Wreck and Strong Boy was put in The Drawers. Later in the episode Silva told Bess Till and Andre Layton that they need to inform The Notary to be able to get in the Cattle Car.

In Justice Never Boarded, the Notary was noting selected juries for LJ's case. Later she would sit beside LJ, observing the tribunal.

In The Train Demanded Blood, the Notary oversees the executions of the captured revolutionaries. However, when Melanie Cavill's turn comes, she suddenly calls for a delay due to the next person not being on her list. The Notary nervously taps her finger, suggesting that she may have been in on Jinju Seong's plan to rescue Melanie and was buying her and Javier De La Torre time.

Season 2[edit | edit source]

In A Single Trade, Roche states that he'll take the names on Wilford's guest list to the Notary who will have records of them if they were ticketed passengers on Snowpiercer.

Season 3[edit | edit source]

In The First Blow, after Andre Layton decides to put going to the Horn of Africa to a vote, Ruth Wardell states that she'll inform the Notary. The Notary later oversees the vote in the Night Car.
