Throughout The Series

Season 1

In The Train Demanded Blood, Martin provides the revolution with a gun in secret, not wanting the Folgers to take power.

Season 3

In The Tortoise and the Hare, it's revealed that Martin became an inadvertent stowaway aboard the pirate train after falling asleep in his cabin when Andre Layton hijacked the first ten cars of Snowpiercer. During the six months stranded aboard the train, he has served as the crew's chef. He later assists Miss Audrey in trying to force Alexandra Cavill to leave Layton, Bennett Knox and Josie Wellstead behind and reconnect with the rest of the train due to his concerns about their long-term survival, but Bess Till knocks him unconscious with a wrench and retakes the Engine.

Memorable Quotes

Melanie: "So they're talking about sedition."
Martin: "Mm."
Melanie: "How did the commander respond?"
Martin: "Uh, well, he didn't agree or... or disagree. He mostly just, uh, stared at us coldly, which, I won't lie, is very effective. Don't you need to get to the trial?"
Melanie: "I do. We'll speed up those renovations for you, and Mr. Wilford thanks you for your service."

Trivia

  • Despite being an informant, Martin was not aware that Melanie was acting as Mr. Wilford.
  • Martin is the only accidental member of the Pirate train's crew, the rest having either willingly joined or were taken prisoner. In his case, Martin had fallen asleep in his carriage which became a part of the pirate train and nobody was aware of his presence until later.
