Revision as of 05:51, 14 August 2022

The Hospitality Department is responsible for smooth relations onboard Snowpiercer.

History

When Snowpiercer departed, Melanie Cavill was the head of Hospitality. After being overthrown in Season 1, she is replaced by Ruth Wardell, who is then fired by Wilford and the role is given to Kevin McMahon until his death.

There are also many apprentice hospitality members, which Kevin was originally, before being promoted on Big Alice.

The Head of Hospitality uniform is either a higher-cut teal jacket with a matching skirt for women, or a full teal suit for men. Lower rank hospitality members wear either a low-cut teal jacket with matching pants for women or a gray suit with teal striped tie for men.

New Year Celebration Protocol Manual

Members of Hospitality often mention protocol manuals, and one specifically for New Years celebrations is in one of the drawers in the Hospitality Office.

Episode 1: First, the Weather Changed.

Attention all passengers. Wilford Industries wishes you a good morning. The temperature outside is minus 119.6 degrees Celsius. As we enter the Yukon Territory of the former Canada, we remind you, for your personal safety, be prepared to brace. We are 6 years, 9 months, and 26 days from departure. At the tone, the exact time will be 0800 hours.
Melanie Cavill, announcing through the P.A. system.

Episode 2: Prepare to Brace.

Do you think I want to be here? Eh? That Mr. Wilford wants me to be doing this? Snowpiercer is all that's left of the world. Each of us has a personal responsibility to the Engine Eternal. You Tailies barely have to do anything. Yeah? Just sit around and don't rebel.
Ruth announcing to The Tailies before taking Suzanne's arm as a punishment for rebellion.
Despite your violence yesterday, and grave hand of fate hanging over our heads this very second, Mr. Wilford believes that children deserve an education in skilled or unskilled labor, and so we are proceeding with apprenticeship selection. The names are as follows. Mikala Mwanza...Mia Kaisheck...and the boy they call Miles and Miles. Should your families choose to accept his invitation, you have one hour to get ready for your new lives uptrain.
Ruth announcing to The Tailies about children apprenticeship selection.

Episode 3: Access Is Power.

We all know it’s been a tough 48 hours. It seems the events have been on Mr. Wilford’s mine as well. He’s written a personal message for us all. To my loyal and trusted crew, without whom this mission could never succeed. In this time of adversity, I ask you, the lead stewards of humanity, to remain unshaken in spirit and resolve, as you’ve done so nobly these past seven years. By your steady hand, we will ride out this hardship, and outlive the ice. Bound by our cause and our need. Wilford.
Melanie reading Mr. Wilford's letter to the First Class, after the train has been damaged.
Good evening, passengers. As you well know, I'm not one for speeches, but we've been through a bumpy patch. So I want to say this to you. If the track has taught me anything, it's that even the steepest climbs give way to descent. I'll keep doing what I do best. I will keep our Engine Eternal. And you keep doing what you do best... Survive, survive, survive.
— Mr. Wilford's edited speech to the passengers at the Fight Night.

Episode 4: Without Their Maker.

Attention all passengers. On behalf of Mr. Wilford, I share this news... the murderer who hid among us is dead, and a second suspect is in custody. Thanks to a successful investigation, order has been restored, and Mr. Wilford assures you justice will prevail. From all of us at Wilford Industries, thank you.
Melanie through the P.A. system.

Episode 5: Justice Never Boarded.

Attention, passengers. Mr. Wilford has accepted a Third Class petition to redraw the tribunal for today's trial. One name has been drawn randomly from each class. If your name is called, please report immediately to your Hospitality representative. From First Class, our jurist is Edith Gusterfeld. From Second Class, primary teacher Mary-Elizabeth Gillies. And representing Third Class... Papermaker Walter Flemming. Again, Edith Gusterfeld, Mary-Elizabeth Gillies, and Walter Flemming, please report to Hospitality. Thank you.
Melanie through the P.A. system, announcing about LJ's trial.

Episode 6: Trouble Comes Sideways.

It has come to Mr. Wilford's attention that a work stoppage is planned for today. Mr. Wilford would like to remind you that your labor is sacred! As non-paying passengers, it is also your ticket aboard. These are the terms. We all have our places and our jobs, and Mr. Wilford expects...If this work stoppage goes ahead, Mr. Wilford will seize 10 striking workers at random and send them to the Tail. He will bring 10 Tailies forward to fill their posts. You think life in Third is bad? There are 400 souls downtrain who would kill for what you have! Protect it! Call off the strike. Thank you.
Melanie to the Thirdies, stopping the work stoppage strike.
Attention, all passengers. There’s been a mechanical disruption in car 780. The section will be temporarily cleared as a precaution and Third Class subtrain is restricted until further notice. We apologize for the inconvenience, and we thank you for your cooperation.
Melanie through the P.A. system.
Ladies and Gentlemen, on behalf of Mr. Wilford and Wilford Industries, we would like to thank you for your composure and cooperation during this trying time. As we prepare for possible derailment, we ask that you please remember your in-transit safety directive. Brace in place, I repeat, Brace in place. We beg that all passengers remain calm, in the face of this unprecedented emergency.
Ruth through the P.A. system while the Engine Car arrived at the bridge.
I know it seems like this might be the end, but it's not. It can't be. This is Snowpiercer, for God's sake! We are the last of Earth's survivors and I just...We are going to make it. I just know it. We just will. Mr. Wilford has gotten us out of worse scrapes before. So keep the faith. And you just remember that His Engine always provides. So find someone and hold them close. And, please, try to stay warm.
Ruth through the P.A. system while Snowpiercer is shaking hard and Car 780 is about to be at the bridge.
