Big John is a recurring character on TNT's Snowpiercer. He is portrayed by Jonathan Lloyd Walker.
He is a poor passenger from the back of the train forced to perform harsh slave-like labor.

Helping the revolution
When he and the others walks back to the Tail from labor he discovers a sign, a circle with a black triangle in it on the ground knowing it's a message. He the sees Layton come out and see the piece of clothing on the floor on which Layton drew the Brakeman's Garrison and other cars he was in. He tried to pick it up, but couldn't.
He wanted to be implanted with the Access Chip that Layton gave Josie to go up train a try to make contact with Astrid. But Josie tells him that she has a better chance of blending in uptrain as a woman.
Josie being taken by Melanie uptrain to interrogate, he wanted to fight but the other Tailies hold him to calm down.
Death
Big John dies in the first battle of the rebellion between the rebels and jackboots. He is axed to death by one of the enemy soldiers.
