The third season of TNT's dystopian thriller television drama series Snowpiercer was announced on January 19, 2021,[1][2] a few days ahead of the release of the second season.
On July 26, 2021, Daveed Diggs announced that wrapped filming third season season.[3]

On February 16, 2021, Archie Panjabi was cast as Asha, but details of her character are were being kept under wraps.[4] On March 4, 2021 it was announced that Chelsea Harris has been promoted to series regular.[5]
