The Docking Car is a purpose-made, one of a kind car intended for the head of secondary supply train Big Alice. During the episode The Time of Two Engines Joseph Wilford ordered Alex Cavill to disconnect the Big Alice, fully intending for the Snowpiercer to freeze to death. This plan was however foiled by Melanie Cavill who placed plastic explosives on the connecting mechanism. Following the separation, the explosives exploded and made it impossible for Big Alice to separate from Snowpiercer ever again[1].
Technology
The docking car is designed to connect with the docking car of the primary Engine Eternal Snowpiercer. Big Alice uses six "grapples" to attach itself onto the Snowpiercer's docking car's hull.[2]
