Nicolette (Nikki) Genêt is a recurring character in TNT's Snowpiercer. She is portrayed by Madeleine Arthur.
History[edit | edit source]
Little is known about Nikki's early history, other than she was working in the Night Car on the night of the first Snowpiercer murder. Miss Audrey found Nikki in the room with Edward, her regular. Who had no idea what was happening because she was drugged by the real killer. Given her field of work, she was quickly suspected by "Mr. Wilford" (who needed a quick resolution) and condemned to suspension within the Drawers without hope of a trial.
Throughout The Series[edit | edit source]
After Sean Wise is murdered aboard Snowpiercer, Layton is enlisted to help solve the murder. He suspects that Sean's murder could be linked to the first murder and, given a second murder has occurred, Nikki may not be the original murderer and thus, has been sentenced incorrectly. Melanie Cavill orders that Nikki be awoken from the Draws so that Layton may question her about the first murder.[1]
Henry Klimpt begins to bring Nikki out of suspension, however there are difficulties in this, and Melanie questions whether the suspension formula is incorrect. Henry remarks that everything is fine, and the difficulty in bringing Nikki out of suspension is due to the extended amount of time she has been under.[2]
Days later, Nikki is successfully brought out of suspension but remains confused and disorientated. Layton and Till learn from Jinju Seong that Nikki is awake, despite this being kept a secret by Melanie until the suspension issue is solved. Till and Layton rush to visit and question Nikki, and it becomes clear that she is suffering similar effects of Kronole withdrawal; with this, it comes to light that Kronole is a street-drug synthesized from the suspension drug used in medical.[3]
After being put in the Drawers himself, Layton sees a dead Nikki in one of his nightmares. At the same time, Melanie and Klimpt discuss Nikki's test results and her state following her awakening to try and figure out its cause and to prevent it from happening to anyone else. Along with not having enough time to detox from the Kronole, its theorized that she was suffering from locked-in syndrome, explaining her catatonic state and had not yet had a chance to sufficiently recover from it.[4]
