=== Background ===
[[:Category:Tailies|Tailies]] were not an intentional part of Snowpiercer's society. They invaded the train when Snowpiercer was about to depart, most of them were the poor who couldn't afford a ticket. Until the Civil War, they were not considered as passengers and were kept prisoners in the last few cars of the tail section. As such, they did not have any rights. They had no permission to visit other cars except on rare occasions, and when specifically given notarized authorization. According to Andre Layton, most hadn’t seen the sun since first boarding the train seven years before.

The Tailies had tried to revolt in order to fights for a better life so many times, known rebellions included the [[Year Two Rebellion]]<ref>[[The Last to Go|S03E02 - The Last To Go]]</ref> and [[Year Three Rebellion]]<ref name=":0" />, both failed. 

If ''Snowpiercer'' needs to slow down in order to perform maintenance, the train will be in deficit, producing lesser energy than it has to use. The solution to this is to stop powering non-essential systems (such as lights) in The Tail Cars and stop feeding the Tail in order to save energy. According to [[Murray]], the "Year Four Blackout" lasted a month.<ref name=":2" /> A blackout happened again in ''[[Prepare to Brace]]'' when the [[Cattle Car]] was breached. In such time Tailies would move themselves together to stay warm, slowly shares their hoarded rations of water and protein bars. 

They sometimes breed rats and feed them the [[Protein Bars (TV Series)|Protein Bars]] in order to have more food.

* When the Tailies learned that their rations got cut in half, the [[Tailie War Council]] planned a rebellion, but failed as [[Andre Layton|Layton]] got removed unexpectedly.<ref name=":0">[[First, the Weather Changed|S01E01 - First, the Weather Changed]]</ref>
* The Tail gathered to sing [[Old Ivan]] Happy Birthday. When Old Ivan listen to the song, some of them would pretend that the bunk bed was a piano and play along.<ref name=":0" />
* The Tail revolted when Old Ivan committed suicide. They only moved up one car, killing 13 Jackboots including [[Jackboot Trotter]] and [[Jackboot Alvarez]]. [[Nolan Grey|Commander Grey]] was prepared to kill all of the Tail but Layton negotiates with [[Pike]], [[Strong Boy]] and [[Z-Wreck]] and rescued [[Bess Till|Till]].<ref name=":0" /> The result [[Pike]], [[Strong Boy]] and [[Z-Wreck]] got put in [[The Drawers]] and [[Suzanne]] lost her significant arm as a punishment.<ref name=":1">[[Prepare to Brace|S01E02 - Prepare to Brace]]</ref>
* When the [[Cattle Car]] got breached and the train was damaged, Melanie decided to slow down the train so that maintenance would be possible. As the train slowed down, energy had to be reserved. As a result, the Tail's power and water were cut off.<ref name=":1" />
* [[Mikala Mwanza]], [[Mia Kai-Sheck]] and [[Miles]] got selected in an apprenticeship program and migrated to [[3rd Class]].<ref name=":1" /> Later it is revealed that Mikala made it in the laundry section<ref name=":2">[[Access Is Power|S01E03 - Access Is Power]]</ref> and Mia was put into [[the Drawers]]<ref>[[Justice Never Boarded|S01E05 - Justice Never Boarded]]</ref>.
* The remaining of the [[Tailie War Council]] decided that the Tailies must stay closer together to stay warm, two bunks would share one ration of the stocked food and water.<ref name=":2" />

== Personality ==
Group commitment among the Tailies is strong, yet they were often tempted to find some way of entering a higher status group. The original Tailies were the survivors of a desperate group of stowaways who entered Snowpiercer by force of numbers after a violent conflict with the authorized passengers (mainly Jackboots). At some point, an uneasy understanding was reached, and once 400 people strong, the Tail Section had very limited rights and survived on rations given unilaterally by Snowpiercer's management, to considerable distress of all involved. Tailies are easily the most tightly knit of all four social classes aboard Snowpiercer, to the point of often decreeing their commitment to the tail as a whole and feeling duty-bound to the group even after years of distance and sparse contact.
