A reboot of the earlier 2013 movie of the same name, the series follows the passengers of Snowpiercer, a gigantic train circulating the globe carrying the last survivors of humanity after the world becomes a frozen wasteland. The series is set seven years following the mass-extinction event on Earth, but eight years before the Snowpiercer movie. After numerous delays in production — arising from creative differences between the writers and network, TNT — the series' development was extended until May 2019, where a change of network (to TBS) was announced by parent company WarnerMedia. Months later, in September 2019, WarnerMedia reversed the network changed whilst revealing that the series had been greenlit for a second season. Following the increase in consumer demand and the global uncertainty regarding COVID-19, TNT brought forward the release date of the series from May 31, 2020, to May 17, 2020. The second season premiered on January 25, 2021 on TNT and on Netflix January 26, 2021. On January 19, 2021, it was announced that the series was renewed for a third season ahead of the its second season premiere. The third season premiered on January 24, 2022 on TNT and on Netflix January 25, 2021.<ref>[https://twitter.com/SnowpiercerTV/status/1455973004312199177 Attention passengers! Tomorrow Studios filed for rights to develop the series in 2015, and the series was ordered to pilot in November 2016; Josh Friedman would serve as showrunner with Derrickson directing the Pilot. Friedman would later be removed from the series by network TNT, who cited creative differences with the network. Despite a new showrunner being hired, Graeme Manson, Derrickson refused to return to shoot a new Pilot, citing that the original script was the best he had ever read and sequentially, his directing was some of his best—if not his best—work. The Pilot was later reshoot, with nothing but the special effects from the original being used. Netflix picked up international streaming rights for the series outside of the US shortly after. In 2020, TNT released a timeline for the Snowpiercer saga, citing that the series took place seven years following the extinction event, but the movie took place fifteen years post-extinction. This revelation means that, despite the show being loosely based on the movie, the events of the show predate the movie by eight years. ==Multimedia== ===Promotional Videos=== <gallery hideaddbutton="true"> Snowpiercer- Season 3 Premieres January 24, 2022 - Official Trailer - TNT Snowpiercer returns for Season 3 with Sean Bean, Daveed Diggs and Jennifer Connelly - TNT Snowpiercer- Daveed Diggs’ Season 4 Renewal Announcement - TNT Snowpiercer Teaser- Season 2 Premieres January 25, 2021 - TNT Snowpiercer Behind The Scenes “Rapid Fire Three Things To Bring Aboard” TNT Snowpiercer Class Warfare - Behind the Scenes of Season 1 TNT Snowpiercer Behind The Scenes Look of the Train TNT Snowpiercer Official Trailer Netflix Snowpiercer Official Teaser Netflix Snowpiercer Official Trailer Premieres May 17 TNT Snowpiercer Official Trailer 2 TNT Snowpiercer Official Teaser Premiering May 17 TNT Snowpiercer Official Trailer TNT Snowpiercer Animation PROMO TNT </gallery> ===Promotional Images=== <gallery hideaddbutton="true"> Snowpiercer Season 3 Poster.jpg|TNT Season 3 Poster Snowpiercer S2 Netflix Poster 01.jpg||Netflix Season 2 Poster Season2Poster.jpg|TNT Season 2 Poster Snowpiercer S2 First Look 01.jpeg Snowpiercer S2 First Look 02.jpeg Snowpiercer S2 First Look 03.jpeg Snowpiercer Season 1 Poster (1).jpg|TNT Poster SNO_LA_19x48_v3.jpg|Alternate, Horizontal Poster Snowpiercer_Season_1_Poster_(3).jpg|Netflix English Poster Snowpiercer Season 1 Poster (2).jpg|Netflix Spanish Poster Snowpiercer Teaser Poster.jpg|Teaser Poster SP First Look (1).jpg SP First Look (2).jpg Promotional Photos (1).jpg Promotional Photos (2).jpg Promotional Photos (3).jpg Promotional Photos (4).jpg Promotional Photos (5).jpg Snowpiercer Promo Photos (6).jpg Snowpiercer Promo Photos (7).jpg Snowpiercer Promo Photos (8).jpg Snowpiercer Promo Photos (9).jpg Snowpiercer Promo Photos (10).jpg Snowpiercer Promo Photos (11).jpg Snowpiercer Promo Photos (12).jpg Snowpiercer Promo Photos (13).jpg Snowpiercer Promo Photos (14).jpg Snowpiercer Promo Photos (15).jpg Snowpiercer Promo Photos (16).jpg Snowpiercer Promo Photos (17).jpg Snowpiercer Promo Photos (18).jpg Snowpiercer Promo Photos (19).jpg Snowpiercer Promo Photos (20).jpg NYCC 2019 Promotional Image for Snowpiercer at TNT 01.png NYCC 2019 Promotional Image for Snowpiercer at TNT 02.png Original Artwork for 2019 NYCC.png </gallery> ===Cast Promotional Images=== <gallery hideadbutton="true"> Andre Layton.jpg|Andre Layton Melanie Cavill.jpg|Melanie Cavill LJ Folger (1).jpg|LJ Folger Ruth Wardle.jpg|Ruth Pike.jpg|Pike Zarah Ferami.jpg|Zarah Ferami Miss Audrey.jpg|Miss Audrey Miles.jpg|Miles Brakeman Roche.jpg|Brakeman Roche Javier De La Torre.jpg|Javier De La Torre Josie Wellstead.jpg|Josie Wellstead Jinju Seong.jpg|Jinju Seong Bennett Knox.jpg|Bennett Knox Brakeman Osweiller.jpg|John Osweiller Bess.jpg|Brakeman Bess Till </gallery> ==External Links== *snowpiercertv *SnowpiercerTV *SnowpiercerTV * Official site: tntdrama.com/snowpiercer == References == <references />
