== History ==
The library car presumably existed before the [[The Freeze|Freeze]], as a place for first class passengers to have access to lots of reading material. 

== Technology ==
The library has a secret storage compartment behind one of the shelves, by the tables, which contain cigars and alcohol. There is also a phone on the second floor for communicating with the Engine.

== Interior ==
The library's interior is similar to other first class cars, with lots of lavish wood paneling similar to the [[The Hospitality Car|hospitality office]]. There is a colorful skylight detailed with a large hanging Earth sculpture and a cage. There is also a spiral staircase that leads to the top floor which looks down into the first and also contains a raised up observation room, at the front of the car, for observing the surroundings outside the train.

== Throughout the Series ==
In [[The Time of Two Engines|''The Time of Two Engines'']], it was revealed that there's a Library Car. One of the things Mr. Wilford demands is the book ''Rebecca'' by D''aphne Du Maurier.''

== Trivia ==

* While being all the way in the front of the train (which is shown frequently), the exterior of the library car had not been shown until Season 3.
* Wilford was kept here as a prisoner for most of season 3.
* There is a photo at the top of the stairs containing the [[The Engine|Engine]] in multiple design variants.
* The library has a tv and a restroom.
* The cage on the first floor (presumably for restricted material) was used as [[Miss Audrey|Audrey's]] jail cell on the [[Pirate Train]].
