Sean Wise is killed shortly before the first episode. His death prompts Melanie Cavill to summon [[Andre Layton]] to investigate the crime.<ref name="s1e01">Season 1, Episode 1: "[[First, the Weather Changed]]"</ref> Later, [[Bess Till|Till]] and [[Andre Layton|Layton]] joined [[Doctor Pelton]] to investigate his dead body.

=== Layton's Investigation ===
Zarah told Layton that Sean was probably a Wilford's spy since Sean got a lot of perks in the Third Class such as winning the Baby Lottery. She and Sean was going to have a child together before he was dead.

[[LJ Folger|LJ]] with help from [[Erik Sotto|Erik]] killed Sean. He was bound and choked multiple times with a thin ligature, his penis was cut off while alive. His limbs were also cut off. The penis was kept by LJ, hidden in her jewelry box, along with Edwards (later presented at LJ's trial along with Edwards), the body hidden in a floor panel in the [[Sub-Train]] under Ag-Sec (later discovered by Tunnelmen [[Jakes Carter]]) and the limbs sent to the [[Cattle Car]], where they were hidden in a air vent, in a storage room (fed to the train unknowingly), later discovered by Andre Layton and [[Bess Till]].
